• Upsweep is an unidentified sound detected on the American National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's equatorial autonomous hydrophone arrays. This sound was present when the Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory began recording its sound surveillance system SOSUS in August, 1991.
